How to enable duplex scanning on the Oki MC562dn
Posted by rbTech Staff on 10 September 2013 01:13 PM

We bought a shiny new Oki 562dn MFP recently, and quickly realized that the device is great, but the documentation is atrocious.

After breaking down and calling Okidata support (and since we're a tech company it took swallowing our pride a bit to do so) we found the simple answer:

  1. In the ActKey software on the PC that you're scanning to, click on Options -> Button settings
  2. Change the Scan Method to ADF
  3. Save as Type - change to "multi page PDF".

I cannot for the life of me understand why duplex scanning is disabled by default, or why the folks at Oki thought that having the device save all scans as bitmaps by default was a good idea.  I get that the other formats (tiff, pdf, jpg etc.) are 'lossy' with their compression levels, but the idea of having a 15 page document be saved to my desktop as 15 separate bitmaps that I then have to manually convert is utterly ridiculous.

Your post saved me possibly having to swallow my pride and calling Oki as well. Thanks for this

Thanks, but...
duplex scan for me is: scanning front and backside of the document simultaneous.

Thank you Rubin! I wasn't finding it in the Oki manual.
