SAS controller causes Intel motherboard in Dell desktop to go through four sets of motherboard error messages before booting normally.

While trying to flash some SAS drives that were causing trouble in a blade server, I ran into something I've not seen before. When the SAS RAID controller was put into the machine and started up, it went through an interesting cycle:

5 motherboard beeps
Automatic Power Cycle

7 motherboard beeps
Automatic Power Cycle

6 motherboard beeps
Automatic Power Cycle

6 motherboard beeps
- boots normally

The process took about 80 seconds, and it was not until perhaps the 10th time of trying to make this work that I left the machine on long enough to let it get through the entire process.

I've never seen a motherboard behave like this before - and the behavior was consistent - I booted it up at least a dozen times with this hardware installed by waiting for all of the error loops to complete.
